Well, in this article, I will share my experience on how to pack hanging clothes for moving.
Hangers, Hanging racks, or Garment bags…are great options to keep clothes organized and safe during the move. So it is best to purchase them in advance.
For regular clothes, wardrobe boxes are the best for folded clothing or shoes. Freezing WINTER clothing requires larger boxes. For organized packing and to save time, I recommend you declutter your closet before packing. Downsizing is a good way to reduce the amount.

Before planning to pack hanging clothes, you must know what clothes to hang and not to hang. However, some clothes can be on both lists (i.e., t-shirts, scarves, etc.)

For moving short distances, nothing to worry about 😀
Do Wrapping (Easiest packing method for a short distance): It’s easy! One can wrap the hanging clothes and pile them or drape them over a box if anyone wants to move a short distance.
Small to medium-sized boxes (Most effective packing method for long distances): You can use another option – packing clothes in small-to-medium-sized boxes instead of large ones allows for a sturdier base.
You should not follow short-distance moving techniques of hanging clothes here to move for a long distance.
Use boxes with hanging hooks (the easiest packing method for long distances): What is the easiest way to transport hanging clothes when moving? Using boxes with hanging hooks is the easiest way to move hanging clothes. This method saves time in packing. It will help to keep clothes hanging from wrinkles and dust.
Use garment bags (the most effective packing method for long distances): As an alternative, garment bags can also be used to pack and move hanging clothes. Lastly, a wardrobe box can be used to move a lot of clothes, or multiple garments can be gathered together in a 30-gallon garbage bag and secured with a bread tie.
Use a large suitcase (not the best option for hanging clothes):
Vertical positioning of a large suitcase may be an alternative option to moving hanging clothes. Note that – it is not recommended if you have other options available.

Shirts, sports coats, tops, blazers, jackets, gowns, coats, furs, etc., can be packed in wardrobe moving boxes.

Pro tip: Under-packing boxes could cause wrinkles and fabric defects while moving. So, try to properly organize the hanging clothes in a garment bag or wardrobe moving box.
If you have a few hanging clothes, you can manage the packing easily… But, when the hanging clothes are in large volume, you need to plan wisely. Otherwise, there is a chance of getting wrinkles or damage during transit.

Wrap of Hanging Clothes is the cost-effective or cheapest method 👍 for a short distance. Moreover, everyone claims that it is the easiest way to move hanging clothes.
So, try to wrap your hanging clothes before your moving day.
Secure the top of the trash bag with a plastic bread tie if necessary. A great way to pack up a closet quickly is to use bread ties to secure your hanging clothes together. In all weather conditions, ties are useful for moving and hanging clothes.
When you have a bunch of hanging clothes on moving, bags with large drawstrings are another option to use. But, the issue is large drawstring bags are not widely used as trash bags/wardrobe moving boxes.
