Are You Eligible to Apply for an Affordable Housing Unit?

According to Toronto.ca, the requirement is as follows –

  • A minimum of 1 member in the household is 16 years or older.
  • A minimum of 1 member in the household can live independently. It could be included or excluded from support services
  • If every member of the home can show the following Canadian status:
    • A citizen or a permanent resident
    • The applicant for permanent resident
    • Refugee claimant or Convention refugee
  • Submit a Notice of Assessment for the current taxation year

Torontohousing shared the following formula to calculate the household income limit:

Acceptable documents to prove the status of all the members of your family in Canada includes:

  • Canadian Birth Certificate
  • Citizenship Card
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Refugee approval documents with valid expiry dates

If you are applying for Rent-Geared-to-Income housing, all of your household members must upload the following information:

  • Legal status in Canada documentation
  • Money information: Owed to, re-payment plans.
  • Consent, declaration for all household members (16 years and above)
  • If there is any other income, mention it, including generating assets
